My inspiration from this project came from my dogs, and recently my family got a new puppy making me think about how much I love them and how they're apart of the family. In our house, we consider our pets as family members, spoiling them to no end and appreciating the joy they bring us daily. In this series, I want to convey that I am always looking over them (The human - dog connection). At first, I wanted to make one large, very detailed collage, but then after looking at some inspiration on Pinterest, I enjoyed the look of simplicity. So, I thought of places that I would find myself with my dogs and combined them with different sculptures I found around my house to create my images. I used vibrant colours to make the pieces more interesting and ended up with my final results.

The objects I used in this series include three human-like statues and two Jeff Koons-inspired statues from my room. I chose to use the three human-like figures because I thought they brought a new aspect of art to my pieces, with them being unique. I am a big fan of Jeff Koons, and I was planning to use the two dog figurines in this project no matter what I chose to do. It was fun for me two use these very different objects to create something different and personal to me. I'm pleased with how they came out and how they balance each other in the compositions.

While creating this series, I had a lot of fun playing around with spacing and colour. As I decided to make my collages more simplistic, I felt that it was vital to have them look visually appealing, and I think that I achieved my goal. I learned a lot about isolating specific parts of images to create several layers in my collages. One thing I was sure about during my creative process was that I wanted my backgrounds to be flat and allow for the different pieces to create the depth and 3D feel.
